ValuePoint Networks HotSpot Gateway Controllers

ValuePoint (VP) Networks supports hundreds of service and solution providers world-wide by providing a complete line of gateways, broadband aggregators, rugged, powerful, and highly reliable wireless products designed with the solution provider in mind. Simply put, VP Networks products do the job the others cannot, and for a price the others cannot match.

VP Networks products are used in a wide variety of markets including hospitality, industrial, MTU/MDU, SME, government, education, and small healthcare.

Leading the way are our Advanced Gateway Controllers, leading the industry in price/performance, and customer satisfaction. VP Networks' products are deployed today in thousands of venues around the world.

Guest networks at Hotels, marinas, shopping malls, RV parks, MTUs, MDUs, and virtually every imaginable location are operated using VP Networks' renowned Gateway Controller and SuperAP products.

VP Networks products are especially designed to support mobile device access in guest networks, so you can focus on running your business. Our products also reduce your upfront capital investment and increase your return on investment.

ValuePoint's gateway controllers are at the heart of your hospitality solution. Smaller properties use the 3000 models. Larger properties use the 3500 model with support for 200 concurrent users and bandwidth control. All models support flexible local and RADIUS based authentication for paid, pass code, or free-to-guest access along with terms of use.

What is a HotSpot Gateway Controller?
A hotspot gateway is a device that provides authentication, authorization and accounting for a wireless network. This can keep malicious users off of a private network even in the event that they are able to break the encryption. A wireless hotspot gateway helps solve guest user connectivity problems by offering instant Internet access without the need for configuration changes to the client computer or any resident client-side software. This means that even if client configuration such as network IP address (including Gateway IP, DNS) or HTTP Proxy settings are different from that of the provided network, the client can still get access to the network instantly with their existing network configuration.

What will a HotSpot Gateway Controller provide for my network?
When a WiFi user connects to the wireless network provided by a hotel, apartment building, condo association, resort property, or outdoor venue they are presented with a user login screen. They may have to enter an access code or purchase service with a credit card. At a minimum, they have to agree to the Terms of Use for the wireless network. The wireless network user may have bandwidth limitations, time-of-day usage boundaries, or restrictions on which websites they can visit (a "captive portal" page or website firewall). In a hotel or resort WiFi wireless network there may be web integration needed with the front-desk management software. These are the functions that a HotSpot Gateway Controller implements in a WiFi WLAN system. When you need to have a user login page at your site that provides specialized features not otherwise provided by your wireless LAN controller, a HotSpot Gateway Controller is the solution.

I'm planning on deploying Ruckus Wireless access points and using the Ruckus Cloud WiFi cloud-based controller or the Ruckus ZoneDirector. Do I still need a HotSpot Gateway Controller?
Probably not. All commercial wireless LAN controllers provide user authentication options, captive portal login guest access, and a variety of user and device control features (for example, bandwidth limiting and access restriction). A ValuePoint HotSpot Gateway Controller fills the need when another centralized wireless management system is not in use. There are some unique features offered through ValuePoint that relate specifically to the hotel and hospitality industry. Contact Connect802 to help you understand the role that ValuePoint products can play in your wireless network deployment.

Can I use a ValuePoint Bandwidth Aggregator with a Ruckus Wireless 802.11ac WiFi wireless network?
Absolutely! This can be a particularly useful application when a Ruckus cloud-based WiFi system is supporting multiple, remote sites where bandwidth and Internet speed from a single ISP doesn't meet the needs of the end-user community at the site.

ValuePoint Networks NC-3610 Gateway Controller

VP Networks’ NC-3610 Gateway Controller provides very high performance for authenticated and seamless broadband connectivity to Guest Networks. Applications include Hotels, MTU/MDU, Schools, Hospitals, ISP, Enterprise and much more. The 3610 will automatically adjust to almost any foreseeable user configuration and adapt to support that user automatically and transparently. Dynamic Bandwidth Management with independent upload/download speeds as well as Session limiting prevents file sharers, PTP users and other network "hogs" from congesting or bringing down the network. User access can be authenticated via Local User Database, RADIUS Authentication, PMS, or VLAN. Web browsing, VPN, and Email are automatically configured and supported by the gateway as well. Up to 256 VLAN IDs are supported on the NC- 3610 with static routes. The 3610 provides a report of every user session and bandwidth used, available on a remote portal for long term storage and reporting. This allows your network to be compliant with the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) and Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

The NC-3610 gateway has incorporated special AppleAssist features to enable Apple iOS devices and laptops to access the Internet through captive portals and guest networks. This includes the option to bypass the Captive Network Assistant (CNA), as well as the ability to seamlessly let Apple devices pass-through the authentication process. These special features help streamline the login process in many cases, thus reducing support calls.

The 3610 is a powerful hardware platform with dual core CPU supporting at least 800+ concurrent users. Two NC-3610’s can be stacked in a load sharing group to support over 1600+ concurrent users. In addition 2 units can be stacked to support 2 WAN ports with asymmetric or symmetric load balancing and automatic failover and redundancy.

ValuePoint Network's BA-4100 Bandwidth Aggregation Switch

The ValuePoint Network's BA-4100 Bandwidth Aggregator allows you to combine multiple ISP connections into one "pipe." When a customer site is served by an ISP that can't provide sufficient bandwidth or capacity with a single Internet connection then it's time to think about implementing bandwidth aggregation. You can bring Internet service to the site from multiple providers (DSL, cable, satellite, etc.) and merge the connections into a single, high-bandwidth connection that serves your edge router and your wireless user community.

The BA-4100 Broadband Aggregator increases your Internet bandwidth and lowers your cost by combining multiple ISP connections into one. Your usable bandwidth is the combined total of the separate WAN connections, both up stream and downstream.

ValuePoint Networks has several models of Bandwidth Aggregators available with features and capacities to meet your specific requirements. Connect802 stands ready to discuss how bandwidth aggregation can be a solution to a slow ISP connection challenge.
