The Connect802 Technical Seminar Presentation Slide Deck
You measure the signal strength at various distances from a 2.4 and 5 GHz transmitter. You find that the measured signal power of the 5 GHz transmitter appears to get weaker more quickly than that of the 2.4 GHz transmitter. Your measurements are correct but your conclusion is not. The difference in measured signal strength is not due to some magical property of higher frequencies that somehow makes them more dramatically attenuated at distance or through obstructions as compared to lower frequencies. Join Joe Bardwell, President and Chief Scientist at Connect802 Corporation as he lays out the exact underlying mathematics to clear the air regarding this common misconception about RF engineering.
